Darker evenings, brighter knits
Heads up: this Sunday, 25 October, the clocks go back an hour. Hello extra sleep. Goodbye light at 6pm.
Shorter days can feel a bit grey. So here's our plan for the dark season: turn the colour up.
Colour is the new daylight
When the sky goes beige, your jumper doesn't have to. A bright red, a soft pink, a juicy orange stripe: it's like carrying a little bit of summer around with you.
And no, you don't need a whole new wardrobe. One loud piece is enough to change the mood of a whole outfit.

Case in point: this pastel pink cardigan covered in little red hearts, with a tie front and bows. Throw it over a tee, tie it up, leave it open. Sweet, soft and impossible to feel grey in. Wear it however you like.

Little tricks for the long evenings
No rules, just a few ideas:
- Start with one bright piece. Then build the rest around it in calmer colours. Or don't. Clashing is cosy too.
- Go for texture. Fluffy, chunky, ribbed. The softer it feels, the warmer the evening.
- Warm your head, brighten your face. A coloured beanie does both at once.
- Layer it up. A cardigan over a tee works from the chilly morning to the warm café.
- Keep the fun bits. Hearts, bows, smileys. Dark evenings deserve a little silliness.

This watermelon pink beanie has a tiny tone-on-tone smiley on the cuff. It's basically a good mood you can wear on your head.

Make it yours
Whatever your style, there's room for a bit more colour this season. Pick the piece that makes you smile when you see it on the hanger. That's the one.
